Working again with Archer Office, this residential project brought together the old and the new.
A modern addition to an existing semi-detached, see’s an influx of light and the blurring of interior and exterior living. Natural materials enabled the home to feel an escape from the bustle of the city, a mere 10 minutes away, and the abundant use of local light warranted perfection in the finishes and fixtures of all surfaces.
Spotted Gum was used throughout, ageing gracefully to achieve a delicate patina. Reclaimed Baltic Pine from remnants of an existing room was used to create the almost floating staircase. The highlight of the show however, is the cantilevered boundary at the rear of the build, enabling oversized triple and quad sliders to meet with no immediate structural support, highlighting the absolute need these days for inside/outside and open plan living.
